His Story
In 2013, Joshua Vila's life changed in an instant when a hit-and-run accident left him with a T8-T12 Complete Spinal Cord Injury — a complete paralysis from the chest down. Doctors told him he would never walk again.
Joshua refused to accept that verdict. Through relentless determination and adaptation, he learned to walk again using ReWalk robotic exoskeleton legs — defying every expectation placed on him.
Today, Joshua channels that journey into purpose — founding the Red Sparkling Wing Society to ensure no SCI survivor in South Jersey faces recovery alone, and taking his message of resilience to stages, rehabilitation centers, and communities across Atlantic County and beyond.
