Lifting the SCI Community
The Red Sparkling Wing Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, connecting, and empowering individuals living with spinal cord injuries across South Jersey.
We provide community, resources, advocacy, and hope — because every survivor deserves to know they are not alone, and that their wings are still very much intact.
How RSWS Began
Red Sparkling Wing Society was born from a simple but powerful truth: surviving a spinal cord injury is only the beginning. The real journey — rebuilding life, finding community, and reclaiming identity — is where so many survivors feel most alone.
Founded and incorporated in Tuckerton, NJ, RSWS was created by survivors and advocates who refused to let that isolation stand. They came together with one shared belief: that every person touched by SCI has something extraordinary inside them — wings that may be bent, but never broken.
Today, RSWS serves a growing community across South Jersey — hosting events, running fundraisers, sharing stories, and building the kind of bonds that carry people through the hardest chapters of their lives.

The visionaries who built the first wing
Joshua Vila
Founding MemberExecutive Director & Chief of Operations
Jersey Shore, NJ
Joshua Vila is a T8-T12 Complete SCI survivor, injured in 2013 in a hit-and-run accident. A proud Jersey Shore native, Joshua serves as a Motivational Speaker and Advocate for the disabled community, an Auditor, and a ReWalk Representative. He founded the Red Sparkling Wing Society to ensure no SCI survivor in South Jersey faces recovery alone.
Joanie Anastasi
Founding MemberBoard Secretary

Joanie Anastasi is a South Jersey native with decades of experience as a secretary and a lifelong advocate for the disabled community. She serves as a peer mentor for individuals living with Spina Bifida and brings her deep organizational expertise and compassionate spirit to the RSWS board.
Robert Davis
Founding MemberDirector of Events & Fundraising
Jersey Shore, NJ
Robert Davis is a Jersey Shore native, disability advocate, and peer mentor for those living with quadriplegia. His passion for community building and hands-on experience with the disabled community make him the driving force behind RSWS events and fundraising efforts.
Becky McGill
Founding MemberDirector of Community Outreach
Jersey Shore, NJ
Becky McGill is a Jersey Shore native with decades of experience in physical therapy and disability advocacy. As the former head physical therapist at Bacharach Rehabilitation, she brings unmatched expertise to the RSWS board. Becky operates a spinal cord injury support group for South Jersey, connecting those with mobility impairments and helping them find community, resources, and hope.
